Kimura makes history as the first Japanese to win a stake in Venezuela
SKUJAKE, (MR DEFENCE – LADY CHAMP, by CHAMPLAIN) bred at Haras La Primavera, maintained his undefeated record in a pair of performances by winning the Clásico Cañonero (G1) with Kazushi Kimura in the irons, who became the first Japanese jockey to win on Venezuelan track.
EL GRAN SECH and SEÑOR SOÑADOR went out to fight for the lead leaving 22″4 for the first part. Already at the beginning of the final turn, SEÑOR SOÑADOR got rid of EL GRAN SECH, who was also displaced by SNUJAKE, who launched himself against the leader, gaining 46” for the 800 in the final straight.
The rest was easy for Kimura, who led the two-year-old to the finish line, four lengths ahead of SEÑOR SOÑADOR, while EL GRAN SECH, PAN DE AZUCAR and GANBATTE, completed the scoreboard.
The defender of the silks of Bertilio Graterol’s Stud “Ingrabe”, trained by Rafael Cartolano, left a final time of 1:05” for the 1100 meters. .
